Skeyfontein covers 12,891 hectares and lies some 15 kilometres south-east of the town of Postmasburg. It was originally explored and evaluated by De Beers, which relinquished its rights even though diamonds were found in four kimberlite fissures. Other diamondiferous kimberlites are known to be present in the area and geochemical information indicates that this is an area whose diamond potential merits being evaluated.
